The Morgante family owns 200 hectares of vineyards, olive and almond groves on the western reaches of Sicily. Although they have been growing Nero d’Avola for five generations, it was only in 1994 that they decided to vinify their own grapes for the first time.
This wine is 100% Nero d'Avola. You’ll find it generous, plump, and warm and in some aspects rather like an Aussie Shiraz with flavours of ripe blackcurrant, cassis and chocolate. If you leave it to open up, you’ll find rich, port and raisin characters. Yum.
The wine is fermented in stainless steel, with temperature controlling. It is then briefly aged (3 months) in barriques (225l), before further ageing in bottle for a few months.
“Purple/red colour with aromas of ripe cherry and blackberry, followed by notes of vanilla and black pepper with smokey undertones. Bursting on the palate, mature fruits and exotic spices balance with pleasing acidity and velvety tannins.” Winemaker’s notes.
It finishes dry, with well-balanced acidity. Euro with a touch of Oz – the best of both worlds. A benchmark for its price/quality ratio.

Orders are shipped as soon as possible, however in hot weather delivery may be delayed to avoid heat damage to the wine. You will be advised if this is the case. Similarly, we avoid despatching orders on a Friday, to avoid wine spending unnecessary time in a warm courier warehouse.
