Domestic Bliss Mix
A delicious mix of Australian whites and reds to remind you how good our winemakers are.
Medhurst Yarra Valley Chardonnay 2023 - “Very pale luminescent green color and brilliant in the glass. on The nose is powerful with huge notes of grapefruit and lime. Background grilled nuts from classy French oak influence, its enticing and intense. The palate is poised and powerful, with line and length and beautiful natural soft acid line, typical of our cool site. This wine will look terrific over the medium term."
Winemaker's notes.
Rieslingfreak No.4 Eden Valley Riesling 2021 - “The bouquet leaps forth with aromas of white florals, sweet spice, lime and quince. The palate is elegant yet assuredly structured with foundational slate-like minerality running beneath the more delicate flavours of citrus and rosewater. The racy natural acidity, which is a hallmark of the vintage, runs the length of the palate, drawing through to a fine, crisp finish and lingering lusciously in the mouth long after the wine has gone.”
Winemaker's notes.
Printhie Mountain Range Pinot Gris 2023 - "A beautiful golden colour due to the grape skin colour, our Mountain Range Pinot Gris displays moderate aromatics with classic nashi pear and golden delicious characteristics. A rich, soft wine that still retains the brightness of the vintage, this is a classic Pinot Gris that will happily pair with most dishes. A firm favourite." Winemaker's notes.
“A very good gris, an exciting category of Australian wine of the moment. Medium-bodied, while streaming orange blossom, baked apple, cinnamon spice and pear gelato along a skein of gentle phenolics and moderate acidity. Flavoursome and winning.”
91 points and a Special Value Rating, Halliday Wine Companion.
Medhurst Yarra Valley Pinot Noir 2022 - Another terrific wine from one of my favourite Yarra Valley wineries. This is as good as entry level Yarra Valley pinot gets. "Bright ruby red in appearance with a lovely crimson hue. Red cherry, five spice and floral notes dominate the aromas." Winemaker's notes.
Terre a Terre Crayeres Vineyard Cabernet Franc 2020 - “92% cabernet franc, 8% shiraz. The Terre à Terre wines are never short of structure and this is another case in point. It’s quite perfectly formed, with graphite, chocolate, boysenberry and fresh blackcurrant flavours purring through the palate, aromatic herb notes then adding to the highlights. Fruit, oak, acid and tannin are all in harmony, and while tannin test the finish there’s still good flow there. I say this every year, it seems, but the value is quite exceptional here. This is a medium-bodied red, with fruit, with tannin, with insistence."
94 points, Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front.
Frankland Estate Shiraz 2020- “While the bouquet and palate alike are richly endowed, the cool continental climate shuts the door on any over-ripe, pudgy fruit characters. So, tannins play along with the black cherry fruit and utterly delicious savoury undertow. Drink to 2040.”
95 points and included in James Halliday's Top 100 Wines of 2022.
