Deviation Road Pinot Gris 2023
"2023 was a very long and cool season producing elegant, well-structured wines. The fruit was picked in small parcels at differing levels of ripeness, resulting in a wine with fine structure. Partial barrel fermentation in seasoned French oak, combined with regular bâttonage, creates an enticingly textural Pinot Gris with lifted pear, citrus and rose petal aromas."
Winemaker's notes.
Lloyd Brothers Adelaide Hills Estate Picpoul 2022
“Picpoul, or 'lip stinger' in French, suits these parts. Lightweight and tensile, the grape's physiognomy, affinity with maritime settings and high-acid kit imparts an aura of confidence and optimism. Real freshness, natural of feel. Pithy and textural, to boot. Preserved lemon rind, nashi pear granita, yuzu, frangipani and spa salts careen long, with a scurvy, salty linger making one reach for the next glass.”
91 points, Ned Goodwin MW, James Halliday Wine Companion.
And a Special Value Award to boot!
Medhurst Yarra Valley Chardonnay 2023
"Hand picked and whole-bunch pressed to puncheons, hogsheads and barriques (20% new). Simon Steele has proven, on more than one occasion, that he's a dab hand at making chardonnay. This strikes the right balance between aromas of white peach, orange blossom and ginger and those flintier elements. Really lovely intensity on the palate, finishing saline and long. And as good as it is now, it'll be even better six to 12 months from now."
96 points, Philip Rich, Halliday Wine Companion.
Rieslingfreak No.4 Eden Valley Riesling 2021
"Citrus pith and lime flesh dominate the very fine aromatics. On the palate, I am carried away on a sea of flavour, only just resurfacing through the finish to appreciate what has just occurred. Generous fruit ebbs and flows across the tongue, the acidity is threaded in and out in a fine, saliva-inducing web. On closer inspection there is white pepper, aniseed and fennel flower too. Another masterful release, at once voluminous and restrained, certainly enduringly long. The price is mind-blowing. This is the fine, delicate, spicy wine in the lineup."
95 points and a Special Value rating, James Halliday Wine Companion.
Spinifex Vermentino 2023
"Vermentino is a rugged, hardy variety that winemaker Schell says ripens relatively slowly here, retaining acidity while delivering generous texture. Fermented wild after six hours on skins, it's a pure and textured Barossa white with waxy lemon, white blossoms and a touch of chalkiness. From a cool and long season, the palate is pithy and fresh, full of zip and with a breezy, grippy saline close. It would challenge many a top Italian example."

Thomas Wines Synergy Semillon 2023
"The 2023 Synergy Semillon is tight and pithy on the nose, leading with scratched lemon and bath salt, a hint of leafy thyme/sage (actually, it's really quite like the smell of fresh sage in the garden right after it's been watered) and nashi pear skin in the mouth. The phenolics have a pleasing, bitter almond/green almond quality through to the finish. It's a lovely wine, coiled, pristine, austere..."
